My favorite effect to use was the layers. This was because I could make as my copes of an image as I wanted and I thought this made the photo look quite illusional.

Drawing with light

Drawing with light
Definition "photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source"

Drawing with light research

This photograph which features drawing with light was taken by Michael Bosanko. I really like the technique of drawing with light as it can make a dull photographer become interesting, like Michael has here. I particularly like this photo he has created because it is a casual photo with out too much detail, making it simple yet effective. From looking at this photograph it has shown me that even using just a small amount of light in this technique can bring an image to life.

This photograph was taken by a photographer named Sola who experiments with capturing the flow and movement of life. This is image which I found is very much the opposite of the one taken by Michael above. I think this because there is a lot more colour and movement captured in the image where as Michael's is more dull. I really like this image which Sola has created because it is interesting to look at due there being a lot to look at in the photo and its brightness.

Over all, researching these images has shown me that I like both simple and also busy images which are created which drawing with light.

Evidence of trying drawing with light

This is one of my favourite images taken from my photographs because the thin lines of light drawn over the blocks are very individual and look smooth. I especially like how the surroundings are completely black because it allows the light I have drawn to stand out and show the tops of the blocks. The only thing that I would say I disliked about the image is the three glow sticks. I don't think they are particularly enhancing the photo, however they aren't making the image any less effective.

This is my favourtie photograph out of all the one taken. I created this effect by constantly flickering the  hand held flash gun on the right hand side whilst the image was being captured. By doing this I think that it has made the light look like diamonds which I especially like because I think it has given the light a sharp and shinny texture.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

image.jpegimage.jpeg
This sculpture is called "Buddah" and was created by Nikki de St Phalle. It is one of my favourite sculptures that I saw at the park because in my opinion it is a lot more bright, colourful and eye-catching compared to some of the other sculptures. I think that because it is a sculpture based on religion the sculpture is related to its surroundings as it is peaceful and at one with nature. The sculpture is made up of varies small colourful tiles giving it a bumpy and shiny texture and its scale is the height of two averaged height people.

This sculpture is called "Seated Hare" and was created by Sophie Ryder. It is also one of my favourite sculptures which I saw at the park because of its large scale and also the meaning behind it. In mediaeval times a Hare was regarded to as an animal which had special powers allowing it to transform itself into a human. By the sculpture being placed outside, surrounded by nature, it makes the Hare look in its normal habitat of grass and trees. However it could also be said that the sculpture looks out of place due to its large scale in comparison to its surroundings. The sculpture is very large and on average the height of three people. It appeared to look like it was made out of a material which looked like stone as it had an uneven texture. I think that the material it was made out off added to how it looked in its surrounding as it seemed to look like a natural material.

This sculpture is called "Totem Pople" and was created by Tim Paul. I specifically like this sculpture that I saw at the park because of its historical background, its detail and its smooth texture. The sculpture is made of wood and at the top there is a bird carved named "The Thunderbird". This bird is what they had as there God and when they where unhappy the Indians prayed to it. The sculpture is quite tall and it is the average height of one and a half people. I think the sculpture looks normal in its surroundings of because its made of wood just like the trees around it.

image.jpegThis sculpture is called "Seated Figures" and was created by Magdalena Abakanovich. The sculpture is made of wood (with a smooth texture) which I think adds to its surroundings. The scale of each seated figure is the average height of two people. I really liked this sculpture because not only does it look content in its surroundings but also I like how the sculpture is a sequence of the same sculpture repeated.

Shutter speed

Shutter Speed

Definition  "the unit of measurement which determines how long shutter remains open as the picture is taken."

Shutter speed research

I found this photograph on the internet on a website called "http://digital-photography-school.com" and it was posted by someone named Chas Elliott who described experimenting with shutter speed to be "a lot of fun."  He took this photograph with a shutter speed of 1/20 seconds so that it was slow enough for him to capture the movement of the carousel but quick enough to capture the children. I really like this photograph because the clearness and sharpness of the two children looks really bold and stands out in comparison to the blurred background.

Evidence of using shutter speed

I quite liked this photo taken from my photographs because by the leaves being blurred and the rest of the background being still and clear it shows that the leaves are in the process moving. This unfocused texture of the leaves has been done by using a slow shutter speed. I feel this photo is similar to the one I found on the internet by Chas, just the opposite way round. My foreground is clear with a blurred background, where as his was a clear foreground and blurred background.

I also liked this image taken from my photographs too. It was again taken with a slow shutter speed so that the movement is visible in the photo. In addition to this I like how the light on the right hand side is blurred and shines outwards as it almost makes it look 3D. However even though I am pleased with this photograph I think that the surroundings of the balloon are distracting and I personally think there is too much going on in the image.
